The Triple Way - St. Bonaventure
The Triple Way - St. Bonaventure
"Understanding Bonaventure in Marian key..."
The Triple Way by the great Franciscan doctor of the Church, St. Bonaventure (1217-1274), is often called the "Summa of Spiritual Theology", a classic which has had and continues to have great influence in the theory and cultivation of the interior life of prayer and penance. This translation with notes by Fr. Peter Damien Fehlner, FI, is prefaced by a lengthy introduction and followed by several appendices illustrating the influence of Sts. Bernard and Anselm on the Seraphic Doctor. The editor is at pains to point out the Marian character of this great work seldom treated by other studies.

"A superb edition of a masterpiece..."
The Triple Way of Saint Bonaventure is a marvelous gem of mystical literature, the work of a great scholastic philosopher and theologian who was also a mystic. Because he was a true son of Saint Francis, his theological work began on his knees and concluded in ecstasy. Because his idiom is no longer familiar to the great majority, we need someone to take us by the hand and guide us in our reading. This is what Father Peter Damian Fehlner does for us with consummate skill in his introduction, translation and notes, the fruit of a lifetime of studying the Seraphic Doctor. We are truly in his debt for this superb edition of a masterpiece.
