St. Michael the Archangel has been fighting along side us and aiding the church militant throughout all the ages! No matter the time, the battle, or the weapons used. St. Michael is there guiding us to Christ and protecting us from harm. We want to encourage our modern warriors, be they phyiscal or spiritual, to pray to St. Michael the Archangel!
Why is He not portrayed with a sword?
There is actually a long history of portraying St. Michael with different weapons as the times changed. The Spanish wanted their soldiers to relate to St. Michael and encouraged a devotion to him and decided to portray him with a musket. We have updated St. Michaels weapon to a rifle that our current soldiers can relate to (MK13 Socom Sniper Rifle).
