The Israelites witnessed all their water turn to blood, freezing cold hail fall in the scorching desert, and every firstborn son die in egypt....TEN powerful acts of God. They walked on the bottom of a sea as it was parted in front of their very eyes. Witnessing one of the most amazing miracles performed on behalf of God's people. After leading the people out of Egypt Moses left them for 40 Days as He climbed Mt. Sinai. In 40 days... Just 40 Days they lost their faith. After witnessing all of God's power! After being freed from slavery they melted down their gold and raised a new god. They turned to violence, perversity and debauchery. Times have not changed and people have not changed. We raise our own "gods" in idolatry. Ask yourself: what would it take for me to get my faith back? What miracle am I waiting for? Would I lose my faith after 40 days of not seeing any signs? If we do not have the conviction of things unseen what lasting impact would a miracle have?
